Your science works.
Let's make it fundable.
M3TRL helps spin-offs, startups and research teams in life science, medtech, materials and hardware move from lab prototype to funded, market-ready company. You work directly with a PhD scientist who has worked as R&D Commercialisation Expert on an FNR-JUMP project, written clinical and regulatory documents for EMA and FDA submissions, and run a multi-million-euro RDI portfolio, with technical review from an advisor in materials, microfluidics and thermal engineering.

TRL Clinic: senior help every month, at a startup budget
Most early teams don't need a large project. They need someone who understands the science to check the roadmap, sharpen the pitch and catch problems before reviewers do. The Clinic gives you that on a fixed monthly fee.

- Top 5 gaps blocking your next funding step
- One-page 12-month roadmap
- 60-minute debrief call
Delivered in 5 working days. Fully credited if you join the Clinic within 30 days.

Funding track · TRL 4 to 9
Non-dilutive funding, from call choice to submitted proposal
Choosing the right instrument matters as much as the writing. Every engagement starts by checking eligibility and fit, so you only spend effort on calls you can win.
- Funding Fit CheckMap at least three instruments that match your stage and sector, flag eligibility gaps, and set a submission calendar.
- Proposal architectureObjectives, work packages, impact logic and budget structure agreed before anyone writes a paragraph.
- Writing and reviewExcellence, impact and implementation sections drafted with your team, which stays the formal applicant.
- Consortium and partnersFor collaborative calls: partner mapping, roles and outreach, across Luxembourg, Belgium and wider Europe.
| Engagement | Typical programmes | Fee from |
|---|---|---|
| Funding Fit Check (2 weeks) | Any | €1,200 |
| National proposal | FNR JUMP, Fit 4 Start, Luxinnovation RDI aid | €3,500 |
| Regional & Eureka | Eurostars, VLAIO, BioWin | €6,000 |
| EIC proposal | EIC Pathfinder, Transition, Accelerator | €9,000 |
| EU consortium proposal | Horizon Europe RIA / IA, Chips JU | €12,000 |
| M3TRL as consortium partner | Exploitation, commercialisation and TRL-tracking work package | Budgeted in the grant |
Fees exclude VAT. An optional success fee of 2–3% can replace part of the fixed fee; success fees are paid from your own funds, not the grant budget. M3TRL supports proposals but cannot guarantee funding decisions.
Hardware & materials · TRL 3 to 8
For teams whose product is a device, a material or a chip
Hard-tech startups need two kinds of review at once: does the engineering hold up, and can it reach the market. M3TRL combines commercialisation and regulatory work with technical review in materials science, microfluidics and thermal engineering.
Lab-on-chip & device readiness
- Design review of your microfluidic or device concept against its intended use
- Verification and validation plan tied to your TRL milestones
- EU MDR/IVDR classification and evidence route in the same report
Hard-tech consortium proposals
- Horizon Europe Cluster 4, EIC Pathfinder and Chips JU calls
- Excellence sections written with a PI-level technical author
- Impact and exploitation plan, partner mapping and budget structure
- Option to include M3TRL as the partner running exploitation
Hardware technical due diligence
- Materials, microfluidics, thermal and device claims checked against the physics and literature
- Manufacturability and scale-up risks
- TRL/CRL scorecard with evidence
Prices exclude VAT. Sectors: medtech and diagnostics, biomaterials, advanced and sustainable materials, microfluidics, energy and thermal technologies, space hardware.
Market readiness · healthtech, medtech, biotech
Know your regulatory path before you spend on trials
A wrong device class or a weak clinical evidence plan can cost a year of runway. M3TRL maps your route early and writes the clinical documents that sit on it.
- Classification and pathway under EU MDR/IVDR, CE marking, EMA and FDA routes
- Evidence plan: which preclinical, clinical or validation studies, in what order, against your TRL milestones
- Clinical documentation: protocols, investigator brochures, study reports, DSURs
- Readiness for EUDAMED registration and EU AI Act obligations for AI-based devices
- Clear hand-off to notified bodies, CROs and regulatory lawyers when you need them
- Regulatory Sprint from €3,500 · documents quoted per scope

Questions
Before you book
We're a university spin-off with little budget. Is the Clinic worth it?
It is built for that case. €490 a month buys a senior review before every important submission. Many teams can pay for external advice from project budgets or a programme grant; check with your TTO or programme manager.
Can public support cover part of the fees?
Luxembourg SMEs may be able to cover part of innovation consultancy costs through Luxinnovation-managed schemes such as the RDI innovation aid or Fit 4 Innovation. Eligibility depends on your company and project; M3TRL can help you check before you commit.
Do you work outside Luxembourg?
Yes. M3TRL is based in Luxembourg and works across Belgium, the Netherlands and the EU, with in-person sessions in Luxembourg. US startups entering Europe and US funds investing here are supported remotely.
Who does the work?
Dr Anita Chavan leads every engagement and is your single point of contact. On hardware, materials and device projects, the technical advisor reviews the engineering. Any other specialist is named in the proposal before work starts.
Who owns the work?
You do. All deliverables are yours on payment. Everything is covered by an NDA from the first call.
Do you guarantee funding or approval?
No consultant can. What you get is a stronger, better-targeted application and a realistic view of your chances.
